This is really a very important TipTow eZine so don’t overlook it because it could save your life. With the summer months upon us it is really important to recognize the warning signs of heat related injuries. If you haven’t had the chance to get any training in first aid or CPR, I certainly suggest you find your local Red Cross Chapter and get some education but here are some very big warning signs and general treatment for heat related injuries.

Heat related symptoms include:

Early Stages:
- Severe Cramps
- Moist, pale, ashen or flushed skin
- Weakness
- Heavy Sweating

Late Stages:
- Red, hot and dry skin
- Vomiting
- Changes in Levels Consciousness

Obviously the best thing you can do to prevent heat related emergencies is to exercise a little caution and respect the power of sudden heat illnesses.

Here are some simple rules to follow that will help keep you safe this summer.

Has everyone lost their minds and gone insane?

Let me show you how to choose a weight loss plan that will help you permanently lose body fat! Remember I speak from experience; it's only been a few years since I lost 100 lbs. ;-)

You know it is a bad health and diet program when..

1. You are told that certain food groups won't add body fat. So - let me get this straight. That means when a person gets the Gastric by-pass surgery, the procedure only stops a specific fat causing food group like Carbohydrates, right? WRONG! No the gastric by-pass helps you lose weight by restricting all your food groups. In fact, the gastric by-pass plan will ask you choose leaner food groups.

The reason this topic aggravates me so much right now is because I just got off the phone with a client of mine who is obese and has Type2 Diabetes and he was told in his support group that if he had the gastric by-pass, his Type2 Diabetes would magically go away.

Now, a by-product of having your calories restricted may reduce your sugar levels but the surgery isn't what causes a persons sugar levels to come under control. If your total calorie consumption is less, guess what? Your intake of any sugar spiking food group is reduced too. EVERYTHING IS REDUCED!

"Do You Know How Much You Are Suppose To Eat -

Discover Your Basal Metabolic Rate!"

By: Randall Gartman

I am going to provide you with a formula that I believe the fitness and nutrition industry doesn't want you to know. It's important for you to know that you can get fat by undereating, almost as much as you can by overeating.

Now I will be honest, in the beginning, a starvation diet will most certainly help you lose weight faster than overeating. But let me define how weight loss occurs under a starvation diet.

Here are some major reasons undereating causes weight gain - »

If you continue starving yourself, your body begins to break down muscle tissue for fuel. When protein is broken down, it releases nitrogen and your body will quickly wash away the nitrogen by releasing water from tissue cells, causing an immediate reduction in water weight and a noticeable drop on the scale. However, when you lose water weight it will be quickly regained as soon as you have something to drink, and the missing muscle shuts drastically reduces the efficiency of your metabolism.

The Proper Way To Use H.I.T. Training (HIGH-INTENSITY TRAINING) - Guidelines For Beginners
By: Randall Gartman

If you are trying to burn stubborn body fat and you have been exercising for awhile, H.I.T Training may be the ticket. Though H.I.T. Training is not always suited for beginners, H.I.T is not just for the strong willed athlete either. In fact, many people that only have a couple of months of exercise under their belts appear to like H.I.T Training and cardio much better.

Here is a basic rule of thumb that you should adhere to before beginning any H.I.T. Style Cardio.

1. Determine your overall health condition. Being overweight...

BIG INDUSTRY WHOPPER!

--You Need A Lot Of Protein to Build Muscle.

The fitness industry will have you believe that if you want to build muscle you need a lot of protein. While it is true that you should take in more protein if you are exercising to build muscle, you will not need to take in gross amounts of protein to put on muscle. This is a big industry whopper that has been created to entice you to buy a lot of protein shakes and supplements!

On the other hand, the medical industry and RDA would have you believe that only need .08 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight (.36 grams per lb. of body weight) to build muscle but this doesn't add up at all.

Without making you go crazy with formulas, let's just take a look at some basic requirements.

Example: Let's say the *Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) for a 200 lb, 38 year old male, is approximately 1941 calories.

Some Facts:

1 Carbohydrate Gram = 4 calories

1 Protein Gram = 4 calories

1 Fat Gram = 9 calories.

If the RDA claims you should have 35% of your calories coming from Protein, how much protein would that be?...

How To Target Your Heart Rate To
Boost Your Metabolism

By: Randall Gartman

I am going to do my very best in this article not to get too complicated but I think everyone should know how to target the perfect heart rate training range for speeding up the fat burning furnace in the body.

Let's get the complicated stuff out of the way first. To discover your heart rate training ranges you need to determine your resting heart rate first.

Upon waking in the morning, step out of your bed and count your heartbeat for a full 60 seconds. When finding your resting heart rate, don't take any shortcuts like counting the beats for only 6 seconds and adding a zero at the end (You can check your Target Heart Rate using the shortcut when you are exercising but when you are finding your resting heart rate, you need to count for the full 60 seconds to be more accurate).

The easiest place to feel your own heart beat is the carotid artery. Place your index finger on the side of your neck between the middle of your collar bone and your jaw line.

Once you have found your resting heart rate, complete the following formula.

Karvonen Formula: Target Heart Rate (THR)

(220 - age) - (Resting Heart Rate) = Results
(Results) x (Training Zones -- Min 60% and Max 80%.) + (Resting Heart Rate) = THR

(Calculate the formula once for 60% and once for 80% to give your complete training range)

Go here to have it automatically calculated for you!

TARGETING YOUR HEART FOR BETTER FAT BURNING SUCCESS:

Now that you know how to find your Target Heart Rates (THR), you can easily set your cardio training ranges to the best fat-burning rate.

I have really researched why people generally fail at getting healthy and fit and you might be surprised to find out it isn't your lack of willpower or some genetic defect in your body. The medical industry has almost convinced a huge population of overweight people that they are fat because of their genetics and it is appalling.

I won't get into that right now but I will tell you that if you believe your are helpless to some genetic defect will limit your success before even start. I mean, how much effort do you think you will actually put into something if you think you will only get minimal results?

Here are a few easy mistakes you can make.
